絵を描き始めるようになって30年以上になりますが、花はどうも描く気が起こらずにいました。「花なんて」という言葉でもって逃げ道をつくっていたんでしょう。
自信がないっていえばいいのにね。
そんな私だったのですがここ数年、花がモチーフとして気になりだしているのです。
その気持ちに素直になろうと写生に出かけたりしています。
仕事と仕事の間にひょいと描きに行くというようないい加減なもので、モチーフはいつも自転車や徒歩で行くことのできる近所に咲いている花ということになります。それでも季節ごとにあれこれと咲いているもので、続けていると花の個性というか、違いがなんとなく見えてきてうれしくなります。
まったく興味がなかったカンナを描くことになるなんて自分でも不思議。
ぼてっとしただらしないかっこうの花というイメージしかなかったのですが・・・
それが今年の夏、運転の途中、黄色や赤いのがあっちこっちで目に飛び込んできました。
描いていると、カンナは花菖蒲やカキツバタとも似てるような気もしてきました。
花菖蒲は好きな花です。
一時期咲いていた花がどこのも枯れてしまって、もう終わりなのかなとおもっていたら最近また大きな花びらを見せています。夏から秋にかけて順々に咲くようで、結構長く見ることができるんですね。
